San Matteo Vineyards

San Matteo was founded in 1999 by Massimo Diotti. The farm is dedicated to his son Matteo born in 2005, the year of production of the first 1000 bottles of San Matteo Gavi DOCG. The 10-hectare winery is situated in the village of San Cristoforo with part of the vineyards in the village of Gavi, the heart of the Gavi DOCG zone. Massimo’s passion for the area inspired him to create a wine that is a pure expression of Gavi. Blessed with varying microclimates, sun exposures and mineral soils, these diverse conditions are ideal for cultivating Cortese grapes, considered the Piemonte “King” of white wine grapes.
